How to dress to impress at work
Sometimes you’ll need to make a good, long-lasting impression at work. Especially when working with clients and customers because a proper business attire sends a message that you’re a professional and will evoke feelings of trust towards you and your company. That’s exactly what you want to achieve. But how do you dress to impress at work? Check out these tips for an appropriate and fashionable outfit to wear at the office!
Style guide: dress to impress at work
There’s basically three types of professional attire for women: business formal, business semi-formal and business informal. Which style suits best depends on the type of company you work at and the clients you’re involved with. This is how you dress to impress for each style:
Business formal
When composing a formal business outfit you’ll want to stick to classic color combinations without much fuzz. Black, off-white and navy or caramel tones are your best bet. A gilet or waistcoat or blazer paired with one of our basics and plain brown or black trousers will do the trick. As well as a long dress. Finish your outfit with closed-toe heels and you’re good to go.
Blazers
Business semi-formal
Nowadays not all workplaces require a traditional business attire. However, you can still dress to impress without setting you apart. Again, we’re going with solid colors here. Combine a pair of trousers or a skirt with a blouse and add a cardigan or jacket when it’s cold outside. Flat shoes can be worn with business semi-formal clothes, but be sure they don’t show your toes.
Business informal
Although it is still not a good idea to show up in ripped jeans and worn-out sneakers, you can go somewhat more bold with an informal business outfit. Think tops with subtle prints, tunics with leggings and pullover sweaters for those frigid winter days. As for the shoes, you can wear both classy sandals and casual sneakers as long as they’re neat.
